The Grandweg 94 A–D, 96 housing estate, comprising 36 two- to three-room flats (built in 1961), is situated in the Lokstedt district. The neighbourhood, with just under 30,000 residents in the Eimsbüttel district, is particularly popular with families. No wonder: Lokstedt offers plenty of green spaces whilst also providing excellent links to the city centre. Lokstedt is also home to the NDR’s television production facilities on a site on Julius-Vosseler-Straße, where the ‘Tagesschau’ and ‘Tagesthemen’ news programmes are produced. Beiersdorf AG also has its headquarters in Lokstedt. Another well-known feature is the water tower, decommissioned in 1960, with its copper-sheet-clad structure. When it comes to green spaces, Lokstedt benefits from the amalgamation of former private gardens. Amsinckpark and Von-Eicken-Park are particularly worth mentioning. The Niendorfer Gehege, comprising 150 hectares of woodland, is situated very close to Lokstedt. Thanks to the Hagendeel and Hagenbecks Tierpark underground stations, as well as numerous bus routes, Lokstedt has excellent links to the local public transport network.
