The Furtweg 27, 27 A–D housing estate, comprising 40 publicly subsidised one- to four-room flats (built in 1980), is situated in the Eidelstedt district. This district in the borough of Eimsbüttel, with around 33,000 residents, is a neighbourhood with two sides to it. Due to the A7 and A23 motorways and Eidelstedter Platz as a transport hub, Eidelstedt is one of the districts with particularly heavy traffic. But Eidelstedt is also green, thanks mainly to the Eidelstedter Feldmark, where amateur gardeners grow carrots or pumpkins on rented plots. Near Eidelstedter Platz lies the Lohkamp estate, comprising around 260 houses built by SAGA in the 1950s. The estate, with its narrow cul-de-sacs, has won several awards as the best housing estate. The Eidelstedt Centre shopping centre is home to around 60 shops, whilst the weekly market invites visitors to shop every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The Eidelstedt Community Centre is also located there, where events are held regularly. The neighbourhood cultural centre offers courses in areas such as health, creative pursuits, languages and IT. Thanks to numerous bus routes as well as the S-Bahn lines S1, S3 and S21 (stops: Eidelstedt, Elbgaustraße) and the AKN (Altona-Kaltenkirchen-Neumünster Railway Company) with stops at Eidelstedt, Eidelstedt Zentrum and Hörgensweg, Eidelstedt has excellent links to local public transport.
