Foorthkamp 13 A-B

The Foorthkamp 13 A-B housing estate, comprising 16 one- and four-room flats (built in 1968), is situated in the Langenhorn district. This district, in the Hamburg Nord borough, is one of the least densely populated areas of the Hanseatic city, with 45,000 residents spread across 13.8 square kilometres. The neighbourhood’s most famous resident was the former Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, who lived here with his wife Loki at Neubergerweg 80/82. This is now home to the Helmut and Loki Schmidt Foundation, which aims to preserve the memory of the Hanseatic statesman’s work. A visit to the Fritz-Schumacher Estate is also well worth it. The legendary chief planning officer created a garden city here with the idea that residents could be self-sufficient by growing their own fruit and vegetables. The estate has been a listed building since 2013. When it comes to nature, Langenhorn has plenty to offer alongside its many flower gardens. The Raakmoor nature reserve can be explored via wooden walkways. The Kiwittsmoor natural swimming area, which underwent extensive renovation in 2015, is also popular with residents of neighbouring districts. With the underground stations Langenhorn-Markt, Langenhorn-Nord, Kiwittsmoor and Ochsenzoll, as well as several bus routes, the district is ideally connected to the local public transport network.
