The housing estate at Friedrichshainstraße 2 and Friedrichshainstraße 4 A–C, comprising 56 one- to three-bedroom flats (built in 1961), is situated in the Rahlstedt district. With over 90,000 residents, Rahlstedt – situated in the borough of Wandsbek – is the most populous district of the Hanseatic city. Many Art Nouveau and Gründerzeit buildings are listed, and the area around the Alt-Rahlstedter Markt offers a historic atmosphere. The pedestrianised areas in the town centre are ideal for shopping. The Höltigbaum nature reserve (half of which lies in Schleswig-Holstein) attracts nature lovers from across the metropolitan region. Following the restoration work carried out in the 1980s, many species of birds, reptiles and insects have re-established themselves there. Thanks to the regional rail service, you can reach the city centre from Rahlstedt station in 17 minutes. The planned S4 line will further improve transport links.
