The residential complex at Reesestraße 9–17, comprising 27 two- to four-room flats (built in 1957), is situated in the Barmbek-Süd district. This neighbourhood, with a population of around 36,000 in the Hamburg Nord district, formed part of the Barmbek district together with Barmbek Nord and Dulsberg until 1951. Almost every resident of Hamburg is familiar with a well-known building in the neighbourhood: the Mundsburg Towers, high-rises around 100 metres tall, are visible from afar. They house owner-occupied flats and offices. The Hamburger Meile, a well-known shopping centre, is situated in the immediate vicinity. The Mundsburg complex also includes a multiplex cinema. Opposite is the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater, one of the Hanseatic city’s most renowned theatres. But Barmbek South also has plenty to offer in terms of nature. If you fancy it, you can hire a canoe or a pedal boat on the Osterbek Canal. The Bartholomäus-Therme, with its wonderful sauna complex, is the perfect place to unwind. Children are not permitted here. Barmbek Süd is connected to the public transport network via three underground stations (Dehnhaide, Hamburger Straße and Mundsburg, on the border with Uhlenhorst). And it’s just a few steps to the Dulsberg S-Bahn station at Friedrichsberg (S1/S11). The HVV also operates numerous bus routes.
