The Lehmweg 38, 39, 40 housing estate, comprising 26 one- to four-room flats (built in 1953), is situated in the Eppendorf district. The neighbourhood, with a population of around 25,000 in the Hamburg Nord district, is one of the most fashionable areas in the Hanseatic city. The upper-class apartment blocks with bay windows and abundant white stucco are particularly sought-after. However, the red-brick buildings are also very popular. Eppendorf’s charm lies not only in its shopping and dining streets, such as Eppendorfer Landstraße, but also in its green spaces, such as Hayns Park, named after the Hamburg mayor May Theodor Hayn, who had his summer residence there in the 19th century. The Alster is a magnet in every season. St Johannis Church, with its copper spire, is particularly popular with bridal couples. The Holthusenbad, built in 1914, offers relaxation and sport with saunas and an outdoor pool open all year round. The University Medical Centre Eppendorf (UKE) is one of Germany’s most renowned hospitals and, with 13,000 employees, is also one of the city’s largest employers. The district is perfectly connected to the public transport network via the Kellinghusenstraße underground station hub and numerous bus routes.
