The Isestraße 1 housing estate, comprising two- to four-room flats (built in 2004), is situated in the Harvestehude district. With a population of around 18,000, this district in the borough of Eimsbüttel is one of the most affluent neighbourhoods in the Hanseatic city. The district is characterised by its many Art Nouveau buildings. Among its landmarks is the new St Nikolai Church at Klosterstern, which replaced the former main church in the city centre that was destroyed by bombing. The circular building with its bell tower, dating from the 1960s, is one of the most important religious buildings in German post-war history and is a listed building. When it comes to local recreational facilities, Harvestehude stands out with Innocentiapark and Simon-Bolivar-Park. The market on Isestraße, beneath the underground viaduct, is one of the city’s most popular markets. The NDR also has its headquarters in Harvestehude. With the underground stations Hoheluftbrücke, Eppendorfer Baum, Hallerstraße and Klosterstern, as well as numerous bus routes, the district is perfectly connected to the public transport network.
