Rahel-Varnhagen-Weg 17-27

The housing estate at Rahel-Varnhagen-Weg 17–27, comprising 73 publicly subsidised one-to four-apartment flats (built in 1985), is situated in Allermöhe. With just under 1,400 residents spread over 8.7 square kilometres, this neighbourhood in the Bergedorf district is one of the most sparsely populated in Hamburg. The neighbourhood is best known for the Hamburg-Allermöhe Water Sports Centre. At the state training centre, rowers and canoeists train on a regatta course designed for international competitions. Allermöhe was once an old, prosperous farming village. The thatched, half-timbered houses on the Allermöhe dyke bear witness to this past. However, since 1979, the area around Eichbaumsee has also been a hub for rock music. The Wutzrock festival attracts thousands of visitors every year. Bands such as Fehlfarben, Deichkind and Die Beginner have performed at Wutzrock. Thanks to the S-Bahn, Allermöhe is very well connected to the public transport network; it takes 16 minutes to reach the main station and five minutes to get to Bergedorf.
